Welcome to the Vanguard Journalism/News Page.

Introductory journalism is a writing intensive course. It provides students with an understanding of the history of journalism and its basis for legal and ethical rights and responsibilities and also with the means of writing for mass audience reading through formulaic writing. Students not only gain an understanding of the reporter’s role, but they also learn the various types of writing formulas used in journalistic writing. No other writing course demands the responsibility of students toward their writing that Journalism 1 does. By writing for a mass audience, students learn to write with precision and purpose.
