Robotics Team Takes on the "Ultimate Goal"

For Vanguard Rembrandt T-STEM ECHS Robotics team, the 2020-2021 robotic season was definitely the “Ultimate Goal.”

“We are extremely proud of our robotics team,” FTC Robotics sponsor, Mr. Oscar Flores, said. “They took on the challenge of working long hours on the robot all while juggling high school and college courses and other extracurricular activities.”

The team, known as 13457 Bread Bots, placed 26th out of 40 teams at the State FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Robotics Team held on June 14-17, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. The team also placed 16th out of 20 teams in UIL 1-4A Division and 6th out of 40 teams in Regionals.

“Our team worked so hard throughout the season,” Mrs. Belinda Guzman, FTC Robotics sponsor, said. “Building and getting together during this COIVD pandemic was challenging but overall we are proud to showcase the robot they designed and constructed during the season.”

As per the FTC website, “FTC is a student-centered program that focuses on giving students a unique and stimulating experience.” The challenge, Ultimate Goal, presented by Qualcomm Teaser has two Alliances of robots, red and blue. Within the square field are two red and two blue start lines “where robots start the match with an Alliance-specific Wobble Goal.”

Robotic students and sponsors were also recognized on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at the Vanguard Academy School Board meeting.
