Dual Academies
South Texas College Dual Enrollment Academies
The Dual Credit Academies program at South Texas College is a two year-round dual enrollment program developed for high school juniors and seniors of the Starr County, Pecan and Mid-Valley Campus area who are seriously interested in pursuing a professional career. Students will apply to a specific academy ranging in professions and follow an assigned degree plan for 2 years. If completed, students will graduate with their associates the second semester of their senior year of high school. Below are listed the academies and degree plans for the 2019 cohorts.
- Dual Enrollment Medical Science Academy (DEMSA)
- Dual Enrollment Engineering Academy (DEEA)
- Dual Enrollment Criminal Justice Academy (DECJA)
- Dual Enrollment Computer Science Academy (DECSA)
- Dual Enrollment Business Administration Academy (DEBAA)
- Dual Enrollment Teaching Academy (DETA)
- Dual Enrollment Pharmacy Academy (DEPA)
Interested students will complete an application during their sophomore year. The application process goes as follows
- Complete a South Texas College Admissions Application
- Complete a Dual Enrollment Academy Program Application
- Student Typed Essay- 12 font, Times New Roman, double spaced, describing your:
- Proposed field of study, Short and Long term educational goals, and future career plans
- Student Résumé - List high school awards, honors, participation in school organizations, club activities, and community activities.
- 3 Letters of recommendation - 9th or 10th grade teacher of each of the following core areas:
- English, Math and Science (no other subjects allowed)
- Submit the most recent High School Transcript
- Submit Passing TSI Assessment Test Scores
