We want to extend our heartfelt thanks for joining us during yesterday’s Parent Meetings. We appreciated the opportunity to share more about our meal services – where we started, where we are today, and our goals moving forward.
Thank you for your continued support and patience as we navigate this journey together. We are the first to acknowledge there are areas for improvement, and with your feedback and partnership, we are committed to enhancing the services we provide to our students.
With our shared purpose in mind – our students, your children – Vanguard Academy has made the decision to terminate meal service operations with Ordo, effective yesterday, Monday, September 22, 2025.
We are fully prepared to continue providing meals for our students, following the timeline outlined below:
Meal Service Action Plan:
Starting: Tuesday, September 23, 2025
Temporary Provider: Yummy's (former vended meal provider) will step in temporarily to ensure uninterrupted meal services beginning today Tuesday, September 23, 2025 for Mozart Elementary/Secondary, Rembrandt Elementary/Secondary, Picasso Elementary and Monet Elementary.
Beethoven Early College High School kitchen will step in to ensure uninterrupted meal services beginning today, Tuesday, September 23, 2025 for Beethoven Elementary.
Menus: Updated menus for September can be found on the Vanguard App under the Dining option or on our website under Parents and Students → Monthly Lunch Menus. Menu pictures will be shared with you starting tomorrow, Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
Request for Proposal (RFP) Process:
Vanguard Academy will open an RFP to select a new vended meal provider.
RFP Open Period: (October 1, 2025 to October 16, 2025)
Projected Board Submission Date:
Tuesday, October 28, 2025 – RFP recommendation to be presented to the Board of Directors for review and approval.

Proveedor temporal: Yummy's (antiguo proveedor de comidas a domicilio) intervendrá temporalmente para garantizar servicios de comidas ininterrumpidos a partir de hoy martes, 23 de septiembre de 2025 para Mozart Primaria/Secundaria, Rembrandt Primaria/Secundaria, Picasso Primaria y Monet Primaria.
La cocina de la escuela secundaria Beethoven Early College intervendrá para garantizar servicios de comidas ininterrumpidos a partir de hoy, martes 23 de septiembre de 2025 para la escuela primaria Beethoven.
Menús: Los menús actualizados de septiembre se pueden encontrar en la app de Vanguard, en la opción "Comida" , o en nuestro sitio web , en "Padres y Estudiantes → Menús Mensuales de Almuerzo ". Compartiremos fotos de los menús a partir de mañana, miércoles 24 de septiembre de 2025.

🌟 Vanguard Academy at the STC Superintendents Leadership Meeting 🌟

Earlier today, South Texas College (STC) hosted its annual Superintendents Leadership Meeting 🎓🤝, bringing together leaders from more than 20 partner districts across the region. Vanguard Academy Superintendent Dr. Marisol Rocha and College, Career, and Military Readiness Director Diana Ybañez were among those in attendance, as the event highlighted important updates on dual enrollment from STC, the Texas Education Agency, and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. 👩‍🏫 Vanguard Academy Early College Directors and counselors will also continue learning more during tomorrow's STC training. 📚✨

This past Saturday, September 13th, our Vanguard Velocity team proudly participated in the “Swing for a Cause” Golf Classic at Tierra del Sol.

Hosted by the Pharr EDC Foundation, this event supports the EDC’s scholarship program, which provides life-changing scholarships to graduating seniors from schools in the City of Pharr.

✨ Our K–2 Dual Language Math teachers dove into powerful professional learning! 📘 Session 1: Teachers explored the 50/50 Dual Language Model, reviewing research and deepening their understanding of the program. 📝 Session 2: They brought the model to life by examining The Ins and Outs of Dual Language in the Classroom—what it looks like and how it supports student success. 💡 Together, our teachers are building bridges for biliteracy and mathematical thinking!

Vanguard Academy recognizes National Hispanic Heritage Month celebrated from September 15th through October 15th. This year’s theme, “Collective Heritage: Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future,” focuses on celebrating the cultural traditions and histories of Hispanic communities while also recognizing the future achievements and creativity of upcoming generations. ✨We are grateful to be able to inspire future generations and impact our community! ✨ - Vanguard Academy reconoce el Mes Nacional de la Herencia Hispana, que se celebra del 15 de septiembre al 15 de octubre. During today's Professional Learning day, our PK teachers participated in a session on recognizing and supporting students with autism in the classroom. Led by School Psychologist Rachel Perez and Speech-Language Pathologist Yadira Moya, the session provided teachers with practical strategies, early identification tips, and classroom tools to build supportive, inclusive environments for every learner. This work reflects our continued commitment to equipping teachers with the knowledge and resources to help all students thrive!

Today our little ones honored September 11th Remembrance Day through a meaningful hands-on activity! Our PK4 students painted American flags while developing their fine motor skills and learning important concepts.
✨ What they're learning:
- Fine motor skill development through painting
- Pattern recognition with red, white, and blue stripes
- Color recognition and sequencing
- Remembrance and respect for an important day in our nation's history
It's amazing to see how our youngest learners can participate in meaningful activities that combine learning, creativity, and remembrance. So proud of these little patriots! 🎨❤️🤍💙

🌟 Vanguard NextSteps in Action! 🌟 At Vanguard Academy, our 18+ NextSteps program prepares students with special needs for independence and post-secondary success. 👏 Meet our incredible students: Analise is our go-to for clerical support! From shredding to copies, she keeps our office running smoothly. Roberto takes pride in keeping our campus safe as a front door security assistant, ensuring only students, staff, and vetted guests enter. Jorge, our newest front office team member, makes deliveries, keeps mailboxes organized, and is learning to answer calls—all with a big smile and pride in his work! 💼 These real-world experiences help our students build confidence, responsibility, and skills for the future. We are so proud of them!
