Vanguard Academy's Dance Teams have kicked off the summer with Dance Camp. The first three days were dedicated to Officers Camp, followed by three days of Line Camp. Their growth in leadership, technique, and performance quality was truly inspiring to witness. The Beethoven, Rembrandt, and Van Gogh dancers trained with dedication, energy, and focus. It was a rewarding experience that not only strengthened their dance abilities, but also their bond as a team. The pictures reflect the energy and spirit our dancers brought to camp. We’re incredibly proud of their commitment and can’t wait to carry this momentum into the upcoming school year.

Our students are participating in dance camp to make officer, chocolate making to stay sweet, open gym to stay fit, or free community meals to stay healthy. With each opportunity, they continue to build community while having a blast!

Vanguard Academy is open 7:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Thursday and closed on Fridays. The district will be closed the week of June 30th through July 7th and will return on July 14th. Our modified work scheduled will run through Friday, July 25th. We resume regular work hours, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, on Monday, July 28th.

Edinburg, TX — Vanguard Academy is proud to announce that Alan Sanchez, a dedicated and talented member of the Beethoven Secondary Gladiator Band Program, has been named a UIL Outstanding Performer at the 2025 UIL Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest. This prestigious recognition places him among the top 2% of more than 25,000 student musicians who participated statewide—making it one of the highest honors a high school music student can receive in Texas.
As a recipient of this distinguished title, Alan will be awarded the UIL State Champion Medal, a symbol of musical excellence, dedication, and superior performance.
This marks a historic moment for Vanguard Academy and Beethoven ECHS, as Alan Sanchez becomes the first student in school history to receive this elite designation. His achievement is a testament not only to his personal commitment and passion for music, but also to the strength and growth of the Gladiator Band Program.
“We are incredibly proud of Alan and all that he has accomplished,” said Abel Ocañas, Head Band Director at Vanguard Academy - Beethoven Secondary . “He continues to set a high standard for our program and serves as an inspiration to his peers and future generations of student musicians.”

Beethoven Elementary’s City Park playground, part of Vanguard Academy in Edinburg, has been named one of the “10 Best Inclusive School Playgrounds in America” for 2025 by Soliant Health, a leading education and healthcare staffing agency.
The national recognition celebrates the campus’s commitment to creating a space where children of all abilities can play, learn, and interact together. The award honors playgrounds that go beyond minimum accessibility standards to provide inclusive environments designed through universal design principles, sensory-rich features, and community collaboration.

Vanguard Academy Rembrandt HOSA students visited DHR this past Friday for a tour of its facilities and a brief career overview of some interesting careers, such as pharmacy, clinical laboratory science, forensic nursing, among others. Students got to experience how is a day in the life of a health care worker and learned some interesting insights from some amazing DHR staff. Shot out to Ms. Karla Garcia and Mr. Mario Lizcano for taking the time to host us and guide our groups, and to all staff who gave us some of their precious time.
Vanguard Academy honors and remembers school community military service parents whose legacy lives on in their children. This Memorial weekend set aside time to recognize those who fought for our freedoms.
