Vanguard Academy Staff Hold Celebration Parade for Superintendent Dr. Garcia

On Friday May 29th, the Pharr Police and Fire Departments led the Vanguard Academy staff in a special parade celebrating Dr. Garcia as “Simply the BEST” Superintendent.  Staff from each campus and department participated in the “drive by parade” by decorating their vehicles with posters, balloons, and messages of appreciation. The Vanguard Academy staff presented Dr. Garcia with dedication videos, an appreciation plaque, gift baskets, paintings, and other gifts as tokens of appreciation for his leadership.

Recently, Dr. Garcia has done an outstanding job leading Vanguard through the COVID-19 crisis.  His excellent systems thinking has allowed students to continue their education without any disruption, and the district which has a student population of 4,485 students has served over to half a million meals these two months!

Vanguard Academy has provided meals non-stop for Vanguard students and neighboring school district students. His innovativeness has prepared the district to be ready for the 2020-2021 school year with every teacher having all the technology tools ready for instruction and every student from PreK3 through 12th grade having a technology device.  He leads by example and has a passion to do the very best for students, teachers, staff, parents and communities.  Vanguard Academy is blessed to have him as a leader.  We, Vanguard Academy, believe we have “Simply the BEST” Superintendent. Thank you, Dr. Garcia!

Vanguard Academy teachers, faculty and administration wholeheartedly believe and emulate Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight! The last two months Vanguard Academy faculty and administration along with Dr. Garcia have gained the trust of a community for leading by example and making sure the needs of all students, parents, teachers and staff were met! From providing broadband to over 500 students in need of WiFi, Chromebook or simply making home visits to reconnect students, parents and educators Dr. Garcia was in the forefront leading by example said principals Angelica Martinez and Irma Duran. At the onset of the Pandemic Dr. Garcia made sure teachers were provided a stipend for usage of their broad band and cell phones as they taught our students remotely from their homes. Dr. Garcia gives God all the honor and the glory for this innovative idea that ensured there was continuity of instruction at all times.
