Vanguard Academy Students Explore Space X

Vanguard Beethoven Early College High School explored Space X and heard about Space X’s present and future on Wednesday, September 8, 2021.  Space X, located in Boca Chica Beach, coordinated the event that featured a tour of the production site.

“Our region needs more scientists and engineers,” Vanguard Academy Robotics and Science Content Coordinator, Belinda Guzman said. “What better way to introduce our students into these fields than with an inspirational tour of Space X.”

Spaceport Operations Specialist, Sergio Lara, welcomed students to the center and emphasized the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in today’s education and workforce.

As per the website, Space X is a “private rocket production facility, test site, and spaceport constructed by Space X right on the doorstep of Brownsville, Texas.”

With this amazing educational opportunity at their footsteps, Vanguard Academy is surely taking advantage of this experience.

“Networking with Space X allows us to motivate and cultivate our future generation of engineers at Vanguard Academy,” Vanguard Academy Science Content Coach, Paulita Handy, said.  “STEM opportunities for our Vanguard students are expanding and providing our students with so many new experiences.”

Since August, Vanguard Academy schools have been visiting and touring Space X facilities.

“From computer science to engineering to welding, Space X can definitely inspire and motivate a student to attain a degree or certification in a STEM field,” Guzman sa
