Practicum students at vanguard Rembrandt Secondary refurbished 30 workstations for the Pharr Housing Authority Office. These students re-configured, cleaned, and completed the installations at PHA’s new education initiative called The MAGIC Center. This initiative seeks to bring educational opportunities directly to HUD-assisted housing and includes partnering with public and private organizations that approach education in non-traditional ways on non-traditional platforms. The initiative will provide HUD-assisted housing recipients not only to a computer and internet but also an opportunity to enroll in various courses like computer literacy, resume writing, accounting and others. We have plans to have our practicum students remain involved as tech support in this new initiative.
